Appendix 2
The resource and how it is organised
The Secondary SEAL materials are provided in a way that allows the user to choose their own route through the materials exploring relevant elements when required.
The materials are organised under five sections and the key questions or subheadings used in the guidance booklet so that once familiar with the key ideas presented, individuals and groups can select elements for more detailed study or enquiry. Most subsections have one or more additional resources to enhance understanding or support school or curriculum development. These might include one or more of the following:
- a staff development activity;
- further reading;
- a case study from one of the pilot schools;
- a learning opportunity;
- sample resources e.g. prompt sheet, poster or photograph.
In addition a series of ‘booklets’ are available in PDF that can be printed for staff use. These are:
- a staff development booklet that includes all the activities;
- the introductory booklet and 4 theme booklets that make up Year 7 resource;
- a booklet of case studies of pilot schools;
- a booklet of tools for profiling, monitoring and evaluation.
The CD-ROM includes copies of the Primary SEAL curriculum resource for reference and information.
