Video clips
The following video clips are designed for use as part of staff development. They are designed as a stimulus to discussion and are not designed for detailed analysis of the quality of teaching. The staff involved, kindly invited us into their classrooms, to show some of the emerging practice in the school.
The video clips are available at five connection speeds and also as Flash videos. To watch the Flash videos, you will need to download the Flash plugin.

Curriculum learning opportunities
These video clips show teachers promoting social and emotional skills within the classroom. They are presented in short clips that show different aspect of a lesson. This means that you can look at several clips of the same lesson or to show different practioners demonstrating the same aspect of a lesson.
The clips have been edited to focus on the teacher rather than the response of the pupils.
The following questions might be considered as you watch the clips and discuss with colleagues:
- What social and emotional skills are the pupils learning?
- How does the teacher promote social and emotional skills?
- What are the implications for my practice?
- What might you do differently as a result of discussing and watching the clip(s)?

These video clips show practice within a primary school. They show one lesson where the pupils are exploring understanding and managing ‘worry’.
