Learning and Teaching

How might we teach SEAL across the school?

Schools provide extensive opportunities for social and emotional skills to be both ‘caught’ and ‘taught’, not only in formal lessons but also in assemblies, in the way staff respond to incidents that occur, extra-curricular activities, and in the way that staff model the behaviour and skills that the school wishes to promote. Approaches that teach social and emotional skills are enhanced when pupils have the chance to put newly acquired skills into practice outside the classroom, for example through pupil participation activities.
