Social, Emotional and Behavioural Skills (SEBS) pilot project in secondary schools
The SEBS pilot project was introduced in September 2005 and ran until March 2007. It was designed to build upon work in primary schools.
There were six LAs and 54 schools involved in the pilot which were provided with a range of pilot materials, the most significant being the Professional Development Handbook. The schools and LAs involved identified their own needs and implementation model and developed a range of approaches to implementation. The majority of the LA and school resources that can be downloaded from this webpage have been produced by pilot LAs and schools.
The pilot provided useful learning that was used to inform the Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning for secondary schools (Secondary SEAL) that is being implemented nationally from September 2007.
These resources are organised under the following headings:
- 8.1 Getting started and planning the SEBS journey.
- 8.2 Whole-school resources.
- 8.3 Curriculum resources.
It should be emphasised that the terminology used in the SEBS pilot was different. Some of the LAs chose to use language consistent with work in primary schools. A mixture of terminology is used within these examples.
